KAZAN PETIT BOURGEOIS FAMILIES IN THE MIDDLE OF THE 19TH CENTURY

At the beginning of the 19th century the majority of provincial town population consisted of petty bourgeois. Kazan had two main communities – Russian and Tatar ones. Being a member of petty bourgeois was legally determined without taking into account national and religious differences of the citizens. Thus in reality Tatar bourgeois had special piculiarities that distinguished them from the Russian bourgeois. Those peculiarities were revealed through studying the life of families on the basis of the structural analyses of 19th cent. Kazan families, their occupations, accommodation, real estate and costs of dwelling, average number of children in families, average age of marriage, army servicing and criminal records, taking part in social/public activities.
